Spring in The Woodlands and surrounding areas of Texas is one of the most beautiful sights to witness. While the region already enjoys warm weather throughout the year -- and the greenery that goes with that -- the bursts of budding colors reminder everyone of yet another reason why they love living in Texas.

Spring's Arrival = Allergy-Inducing Pollen

Unfortunately, with the arrival of spring comes the region's inevitable pollen season as well. For some people who are particularly sensitive to its effects, pollen can be as bad as the flu for them. Even if you aren't completely devastated by the onslaught of sticky yellow pollen that gets everywhere, it can still make you miserable.

As if itchy, watery and red eyes, a running nose and almost endless sneezing weren't miserable enough, sometimes pollen is the kick starter for more serious illnesses. It's not unheard of for the sinus congestion and respiratory issues to lead to infections like pneumonia or bronchitis.

If you, or someone in your family, has allergy symptoms like those noted above as well as any of the following: headaches, coughing, itchy skin, difficulty breathing, itchy throat, it's a good idea to be prepared. Plan a visit to your family doctor to see if you're a candidate for allergy shots or other prescribed treatment and stock up on over-the-counter medications formulated for the purpose.

Your Car is Miserable Toocar-pollen

It might be hard to believe, but pollen makes your car miserable too. Of course, pollen doesn't make your vehicle congested or give it a running nose as it does to you. It can, however, do physical harm to your car that can be permanent if you don't take the appropriate action.

The sticky yellow film can coat your car's exterior and ruin the paint job, if you're not careful. Even if you garage your car while you're at home, it will still be exposed to the dreaded pollen during your travels and when you park at work or to do your shopping.

Make a Pollen Plan for Your Car

The best way to take care of your car during pollen season is to plan to keep it clean. While you can hope for a good spring rain to wash it all away, you can also take matters into your own hands. Taking your car to the car wash on a regular basis is the best way to protect its paint.

It's important to mention here that the method you use to wash the pollen off your car is just as important as actually getting it off in the first place. Care must be taken to ensure that the pollen isn't ground into your paint job.
